The Vermont Senate Agriculture Committee takes musical testimony in support of GMO food labeling bill H.112
At the February 6th Public Hearing Hundreds Turn Up to Support H.112 Passage
The day after the public hearing, the Vermont Senate Agriculture Committee passed the bill onto the Senate Judiciary Committee with two alternative “trigger” clauses removed making the law effective on July 1, 2015.
“It is a strong vote for state autonomy and Vermonters’ clear indication that they want this information due to their environmental and health concerns.” said Sen. David Zuckerman.
“Last night’s public hearing made clear what we already knew, the vast majority of Vermonters support this bill and want to see GMO foods labeled. The Agriculture Committee has spent the last month putting in long hours making this bill as strong as possible and we are extremely pleased with the result of their work,” said Falko Schilling, Consumer Protection Advocate for VPIRG.
