Bill McKibben testifies on fossil fuel divestment to a joint hearing of the Vermont Senate and House Government Operations Committees next Friday, February 19th, at 1pm. The hearing is open to the public and will be held in Room 11 of the Vermont State House.
In addition to Bill McKibben’s testimony, the joint hearing will hear testimony from the Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club, Trillium Asset Management, and state pension holders. State Treasurer Beth Pearce and others who oppose legislatively-mandated divestment will also be testifying that day. Testimony is scheduled in advance so members of the public won’t be able to testify themselves, but it’s important that we have a strong turnout to show broad public support for divestment.
