Recorded while activists rallied on the Statehouse steps demanding action on climate change. Gov. Phil Scott’s State of the State address was happening at the same time.

There are a lot of lawmakers wanting to address climate change and it’s their top priority this session. In this show, broadcast live on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 on Vermont Public Radio, host Jane Lindholm and guests talk about “what activists want and what lawmakers are pursuing when it comes to fighting climate change in this legislative session.”

Guests include:

  • Bradford Democratic Rep. Sarah Copeland Hanzas, a member of the “climate solutions caucus,” about what climate bills and priorities do — and do not — fit their platform.

  • Republican House Rep. Rob LaClair of Barre Town, shares what his party and caucus support when it comes to addressing climate change.

  • Matt Cota, executive director with the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association, talks about how fuel dealers and related industries are reacting to pending climate change legislation.
