Have your voice heard – literally!
Call your Vermont Senator today!
It’s quick, easy and very effective.
Call the Vermont State House at 800-322-5616 and ask the Sargent at Arms to deliver a message to your Senator asking them to support the GMO Labeling Bill H.112. If you’re not exactly sure who your Senator is, visit the state’s “Find My Member” website. (Sending an email to your Senator, at this late hour, is unlikely to get read in time so your call is the most effective way to get your voice heard.)
You can listen live to the Senate Floor debate on Tuesday and Wednesday on the VPR.net.
Listen to Vermont Public Radio, Bob Kinzel’s latest report.
“I think that the standard that would be used by the court would be does the state have a legitimate interest in creating this law?” said Campbell. “And I’ll tell you, I feel extremely comfortable with defending this case.”
“Just to make sure that the taxpayers are not looking at taking a hit if this does,” said Campbell. “What we’ve done instead of putting triggers in there we’ve said that we are taking any of suits that the Attorney General’s office or any enforcement actions that the Attorney General’s office has for the next two years will be going into a special fund.”
The few who argue against the bill say that the bill is unconstitutional and unnecessary because, they say, there’s no definite proof that GMOs are harmful to human health.
The Food and Drug Administration has concluded that there is essentially no difference between GMO and GMO-free food products.
